APR FC Coach Abderrahim Taleb Apologizes to Fans, Promises Strong Comeback in CECAFA Kagame Cup

Kigali, Rwanda – APR FC head coach Abderrahim Taleb has issued an apology to the club’s supporters following what he described as “avoidable mistakes” made during recent friendly matches. The Moroccan tactician, however, reassured fans that lessons have been learned and promised an improved performance when the team competes in the CECAFA Kagame Cup 2025 in Tanzania.

The draw conducted by the Council for East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA) placed APR FC in Group B alongside Bumamuru (Burundi), Mlandege (Zanzibar), and NEC (Uganda). The tournament is expected to be highly competitive, as teams from across the region battle for supremacy.

Speaking after the groupings were announced, Coach Taleb acknowledged that the preseason preparations were not up to the fans’ expectations, particularly during the INKERA Y'ABAHIZI Tournament.

“I want to sincerely apologize to our fans because we did not organize the friendly matches in the way they wished. Our players were adapting to a new style of play. Previously, we focused more on defending, but now we are emphasizing high pressing and attacking with intensity.”

The Moroccan coach also highlighted that errors noticed in defense and goalkeeping have been addressed ahead of the Kagame Cup.

“We have corrected the mistakes in our defense and goalkeeping. Fans will see the difference in Dar es Salaam. These are not easy games—every team will fight for their badge, their country, and their supporters. We also lost some players to national team duty, which is challenging, but I believe the rest of the squad will step up and deliver.”

APR FC is also preparing for a tough campaign in the CAF Champions League, where they will face Egyptian giants Pyramids FC. The Kagame Cup will serve as a vital test for Taleb’s strategies before the continental challenge.

As expectations rise, APR FC fans remain hopeful that the Rwandan champions will make a strong statement in Tanzania and bring home silverware.
