REB Scholarship Opportunities for In-Service Teachers 2026–2027 at University of Rwanda
The Rwanda Basic Education Board (REB), in collaboration with the Higher Education Council (HEC), has officially announced 300 scholarship opportunities for in-service teachers working in public and government-aided schools across Rwanda. The scholarships are intended for the 2026–2027 academic year and will support eligible teachers who wish to pursue undergraduate studies at the University of Rwanda – College of Education (URCE).
This announcement represents an important step in strengthening the quality of education in Rwanda. By enabling teachers already serving in classrooms to continue their studies, the scholarship program contributes to professional development, improved teaching standards, and better learning outcomes for students nationwide.
Why This Scholarship Matters
Teachers play a central role in the future of every country. In Rwanda, continuous investment in teacher development remains a major pillar of educational transformation. When teachers receive opportunities to upgrade their qualifications, schools benefit from stronger academic leadership, modern classroom approaches, and better learner support.
The 2026–2027 REB scholarship is particularly significant because it targets in-service teachers — educators who are already contributing to the education system but may need further academic training to advance professionally.
This scholarship therefore serves multiple purposes:
- Improving teacher qualifications
- Supporting national education priorities
- Expanding specialized teaching skills
- Building long-term educational quality across Rwanda
