Morocco Vs Niger

Morocco has officially written history as the first African country to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, a tournament that will be hosted across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

The Atlas Lions sealed their ticket after a dominant 5-0 victory over Niger in a Group E matchday 7 clash, held at Complexe Sportif Moulay Abdellah on Friday night, September 5, 2025.

Goals that made history

  • Ismaeil Saibari scored twice in the first half, setting the tone for Morocco’s emphatic win.
  • Ayoub El Kaabi, Hamza Igamane, and Azzedine Ounahi also found the back of the net.

This qualification marks Morocco’s third consecutive World Cup appearance (2018, 2022, and now 2026), and their seventh overall.

FIFA President reacts

FIFA President Gianni Infantino congratulated Morocco in an Instagram post:
“What an extraordinary performance! Congratulations to Morocco for qualifying for the FIFA World Cup for the seventh time in its history.”

Looking ahead

Morocco is not just stopping here. The North African giants will also co-host the 2030 FIFA World Cup alongside Spain and Portugal, making them central figures in global football’s future.

With this victory, Morocco has become the 17th team to secure qualification among the 48 nations that will feature in the 2026 edition.
