FERWAFA President Rewards Amavubi Players After Historic Win Over Zimbabwe
The newly elected President of the Rwanda Football Federation (FERWAFA), Shema Ngoga Fabrice, has personally awarded the Amavubi players a generous bonus following their 1-0 victory against Zimbabwe in the World Cup qualifiers. The decisive goal was scored by Mugisha Gilbert, also known as Barafinda, at Orlando Stadium in South Africa on September 9, 2025.
Reports confirm that each player and the national team coach received 700 USD, totaling approximately 28,000 USD (over 40 million Rwandan Francs), directly from President Shema. Unlike the usual practice where bonuses are provided jointly by FERWAFA and the Ministry of Sports, this reward was given immediately by the new federation president.
Shema Fabrice visited the team’s locker room to personally congratulate the players and ensure the bonus reached them without delay.
The Amavubi squad is expected to return to Kigali on Wednesday evening, riding high on their recent wins, including a 1-0 victory over Nigeria in South Africa.
