FIFA Orders Rayon Sports to Pay Ex-Coach Robertinho $22,500 After Contract Dispute
Rayon Sports FC has been dealt a heavy blow after the world football governing body, FIFA, ordered the club to compensate its former head coach, Roberto Oliveira Gonçalves do Carmo, widely known as Robertinho, following what was deemed an unlawful contract termination.

The Brazilian tactician, who had been earning $5,000 per month, was suspended by the Rayonsport FC in April 2025, with the club citing illness as the reason. Robertinho strongly opposed the decision and took his case to FIFA, demanding his unpaid wages from January 2025 until the end of the season in June.

After reviewing the complaint, FIFA ruled in Robertinho’s favor and, in a letter sent on August 12, 2025, instructed Rayon Sports to pay him $22,500 (over 30 million Rwandan francs) within 45 days.
Failure to meet this deadline could expose the fan-based club to severe sanctions, including a transfer ban that would stop them from registering both local and international players for three consecutive transfer windows.

This ruling adds to the growing financial and administrative struggles facing Rayon Sports, and it now remains to be seen how the club will respond before FIFA’s deadline expires.
